About Mary Louise
A great (and healthy!) way to gain confidence is through garden-related activities. I’m Mary Louise Hagler, a life-long gardener and Master Gardener (class of 2000). My goal is to encourage you through providing tips and practical garden ideas.
A wife, volunteer, and mother of two active teens, I practice a realistic approach to gardening with vegetables, herbs, perennials, and annuals for cooking and design.
I thrive on sharing my love for gardening, floral design, and hobby farming; I offer various design and gardening workshops throughout the year. I speak frequently to groups about topics such as:
- herbs
- growing your own veggies
- cutting gardens
- cooking with herbs
- floral design
I have contributed to Augusta Magazine, Columbia County News Times, and I’m developing a no-nonsense guide to gardening in Augusta. My most recent article, “The Top-10 Die Hard Performers for Georgia Gardeners,” was published in the April 2011 issue of Georgia Gardening Magazine. Look for more articles this fall!
My home garden was featured on the Sacred Heart Garden Festival garden tour in April, 2010 with over 350 visitors!
Our “country” garden hosts FlowerCamp in September where guests are encouraged to cultivate creative perspective utilizing simple design techniques.
People often ask me, “Where does your energy come from?
I answer, “Doing what I love; lifting heavy weight.”
I exercise regularly with a “torture trainer.” When I’m not in the garden, I’m reading about gardening! I love 80s and 90s rock ‘n roll music (especially Joan Jett and Blondie), and I’ll watch any movie that stars Reese Witherspoon (especially Legally Blonde).
Please feel free to be-friend me on Facebook and subscribe to my free monthly e-newsletter.
Blessings from the garden,
