Garden on Purpose

I just picked up the USA Weekend section of our newspaper because the cover caught my eye. The author, Molly Lyons, is encouraging us to garden with a purpose in mind. What does that mean?  Whatever we put in the ground is significant–we will either eat it or use it for our pleasure as in a vase. Here are her options:

Veggies

Vertical gardening for those challenged with space

Lyons even encourages “native gardening” to contribute to the outdoor food chain.

I am too involved in life at this point to do anything other than “purposeful gardening”.  Here are a couple of before and after pics of my philosophy.
